SOCHUM
Political responsibilities of the world countries upon the refugees

The SOCHUM Committee will focus on addressing key challenges in the global refugee crisis, particularly the issue of limited international cooperation. Many relatively better-off countries are reluctant to share the responsibility of hosting refugees, which creates an imbalance in responsibility between states and leaves developing or geographically closer countries under pressure. The committee will also examine the increasing use of refugee admission as a political tool, where some governments manipulate refugee policies for domestic or international political advantage rather than purely humanitarian reasons. Delegates are expected to discuss potential solutions that encourage fair burden-sharing, prevent the politicization of refugee admission, and strengthen global solidarity to ensure the protection and rights of refugees are upheld.
